Tübingen (dpa / lsw) - The Tübingen emergency doctor Lisa Federle donates prize money from the Carl Friedrich Geiger Foundation in the amount of 20,000 euros for corona vaccinations in poorer countries.

"The money is intended for countries that have too little financial means to buy vaccine against Corona," said the DRK district association president on Wednesday in Tübingen.

For the first time this year, the Christa Šerić Geiger Prize goes to women who have made outstanding contributions in science and research, education, art and culture, in social issues or for equality and equality between women and men.

The award ceremony is scheduled for March 6th in Kehl.

The jury of the foundation based in Kehl (Ortenaukreis) honors Federle's commitment to social and medical issues, especially in connection with the management of the corona pandemic.

Federle had equipped a doctor's mobile with a mobile corona test point and started systematic tests in old people's and care facilities.

In the second Corona wave, she bought corona rapid tests with the help of donations and has since been offering free rapid tests for everyone in downtown Tübingen.

The campaign was extended to other cities by the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Social Affairs in the run-up to Christmas.
