Schwerin (dpa / mv) - The daycare centers and schools in the districts of Vorpommern-Greifswald and Ludwigslust-Parchim are only allowed to open for emergency care from next Monday.

The reason is the high number of infections of more than 150 per 100,000 inhabitants in seven days in these districts, as Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig (SPD) said on Tuesday evening after the federal-state switch and a subsequent consultation with the district administrators.

In the Mecklenburg Lake District, which at times had an incidence of over 200, the more extensive restriction already applies.

Parents in the affected districts can only take their children up to grade 6 to daycare, school or after-school care if they work in a systemically relevant profession.

For the final classes, however, face-to-face lessons are still possible nationwide, emphasized Schwesig.

In the other rural districts, as well as in Schwerin and Rostock, daycare centers and schools up to grade 6 remain open to all children.

The number of infections is lower there.

However, parents are urgently asked everywhere to look after their children at home if possible.

From grade 7 onwards, all students in MV learn at home.

The school closings were extended to February 14th at the federal-state switch.

Face-to-face lessons are only offered for the final classes for secondary school leaving certificate, Abitur or vocational qualification in order to ensure preparation for exams.

In MV, this is perceived by a good two thirds of the pupils concerned at the general education schools.

At the vocational schools it is around 30 percent.
