Wiesbaden (dpa / lhe) - The corona cabinet of the black-green state government will today decide on the new measures for the population in Hesse to protect against infection with the virus.

The aim of the meeting in Wiesbaden is to fix the measures decided in the federal-state switchboard with an ordinance for Hesse.

Prime Minister Volker Bouffier (CDU) will then present and explain the planned restrictions in detail in Wiesbaden.

The new regulation will apply from next Saturday (23.1.) And will initially be valid until mid-February.

Due to the persistently high number of corona infections, the federal and state governments agreed on Tuesday that the lockdown, which was limited to the end of January, would be extended to February 14th.

This means that restaurants, leisure facilities and retail are closed.

According to the resolutions, the mask requirement will also be tightened.

In the future, medical masks should be worn in public transport and in shops for better protection against the corona virus.

In the decision paper of the federal and state governments, there is talk of so-called surgical masks or mouth-nose covers with the standards KN95 / N95 or FFP2.

There are no plans to tighten the contact rules.

Only meetings with a maximum of one other person who does not belong to your household are permitted.

In Hesse, the existing regulations also remain in place at schools and daycare centers.
