Potsdam (dpa / bb) - Brandenburg parents whose children are not at all or only partially cared for in the daycare centers due to the corona pandemic should no longer pay contributions.

"We want to relieve the parents of the contributions who are not entitled to emergency care for their child when the daycare center closes," said Education Minister Britta Ernst (SPD) on Wednesday.

"Or who follow the appeal of the state government to look after their child themselves to reduce the incidence of infections."

This should also apply to parents who only brought their child to the daycare center up to a maximum of 50 percent of the contractually agreed care, the ministry said. The regulation is to apply retrospectively from January 1st. Therefore, the daycare providers are asked to keep the specific agreements with the parents for January in writing. The finance committee of the state parliament still has to approve the funding.
