Mainz (dpa / lrs) - Three days before its party convention for the state election, the CDU Rhineland-Palatinate is presenting its programmatic guidelines today.

With the designation "government program" the party makes clear its claim to take over the political formation in the country again after three decades in the opposition.

The state election is in March.

Top candidate Christian Baldauf and General Secretary Gerd Schreiner want to give first insights into the program, as the party announced.

In addition to the main program, specific programs are also planned for individual regions.

When presenting the “teams of practitioners” for the state elections, the CDU already made it clear which priorities it wants to set in the election campaign.

In education policy, the funds for daycare centers and schools are to be increased, and four-year-olds should take a mandatory language test in the daycare center before starting school.

Baldauf has proposed emergency aid of 500 million euros for cities, municipalities and districts to improve the financial resources of the municipalities.

Regarding domestic politics, Baldauf spoke out in favor of expanding data retention for criminal prosecution.

The CDU also wants to redesign the departments and assign responsibility for integration to the Ministry of the Interior.

In environmental policy, the party wants to set up a new control body for bioeconomy in the State Chancellery.
