Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - The Baden-Württemberg Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BWIHK) reacted in frustration to the extension of the lockdown.

That was "a heavy blow for the closed companies," said BWIHK President Wolfgang Grenke of the German press agency.

He finds it strange that companies are often identified in public discussions as the main drivers of the infection process.

That does not correspond to the facts.

With a lot of effort, the best possible health protection for customers and employees has been established.

"Nevertheless, the open companies are now threatened with further bureaucratic burdens," said Grenke.

"And the closed companies have been lacking opening prospects for weeks or even months."

The IHK is calling for an overall timetable that shows the way back to economic life.

Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) and the Prime Ministers of the federal states decided on Tuesday evening, among other things, to extend the lockdown, which was limited to the end of January, to contain the corona pandemic until mid-February.
