Rostock (dpa / mv) - According to the police, a twelve-year-old boy in Rostock gave his family a nasty surprise.
When the adults were on an errand not far from the city harbor on Tuesday, the boy waited in the car and played with a lighter, a police spokeswoman said on Wednesday.
Eventually the passenger seat caught fire and the flames spread inside the vehicle.
The fire brigade had to move in to extinguish the burning vehicle and prevent it from spreading to other cars.
Nobody got hurt. The alleged arsonist left the car on time. The damage was estimated at a "five-figure sum". The police are investigating suspicions of negligent arson. Where the adults from another Rostock district were so long is still being clarified, it said. The media had previously reported on the case.
