US President-elect Joe Biden arrived at the US Capitol building before the inauguration, where a military guard greeted the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces as he entered the grand building.
He was accompanied by his wife, Jill Biden, followed by Vice President-elect Kamala Harris and her husband, Doug Imhoff.
The four ascended the steps of the Capitol together, accompanied by two members of Congress, who were welcomed by them.
They stopped and waved to the tiny crowd and cameras as they reached the top of the stairs.
