Paris (AP) - The German actress Barbara Sukowa has won the Prix Lumière as best actress.

The 70-year-old received the award for her role in “Deux” (in German: “We both”) and shares it with French film partner Martine Chevallier.

The Prix Lumières have been awarded by the foreign press since 1995 and correspond to the American Golden Globes.

The award ceremony did not take place live due to the Corona crisis, but was recorded beforehand and broadcast on Tuesday by the French television channel "Canal +".

Sukowa is one of the most famous character actresses in German cinema.

She became famous with Rainer Werner Fassbinder's “Berlin Alexanderplatz” (1980) and “Lola” (1981).
