Appointments to people over 80 should start with a high number

Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - The allocation of vaccination appointments to the over-80s should start on January 25 with a high number.

NRW Health Minister Karl-Josef Laumann (CDU) spoke at a committee hearing in the state parliament on Wednesday evening of 420,000 appointments from February 8th.

The booking period for the vaccinations is also long at eight weeks.

After the experiences in other federal states, Laumann appealed to choose the online route if possible.

Some of the appointments are reserved for allocation to the telephone hotlines, but experience has shown that bottlenecks can arise due to many simultaneous calls.

According to the ministry, 1000 employees are available in call centers to make appointments.
