Berlin (AP) - Bundesliga basketball team Alba Berlin has reached the final tournament in the BBL Cup as the fourth and last team.

The defending champion won against the Basketball Löwen Braunschweig three days after the success in the league in his home hall with 103: 63 (46:36).

This means that the Berliners can no longer be displaced from first place in group A.

The best Berlin throwers on Wednesday were Tim Schneider and Maodo Lo with 16 points each.

Gavin Schilling and Martin Peterka scored best in the lions (13 points each).

At Alba, head coach Aito Garcia Reneses was back after surviving the coronavirus infection.

However, he left the coaching on the sidelines to Israel Gonzalez, who had represented him for the past few weeks.

It took the Berliners a few minutes to find their way into the game, falling five points behind committed Braunschweig players.

Thanks to a few long-range hits, they turned the game around in the first quarter and went into the break with a 46:36 lead.

Alba had now found his rhythm and put in an outstanding second half.

The Berliners played their quality, forced the Braunschweiger to numerous ball losses and scored points with a fast game.

Alba Berlin completes the field of participants for top four in the cup.

FC Bayern Munich, ratiopharm Ulm and BG Göttingen had already qualified beforehand.

The basketball league plans to announce the venue and date for the finals next week at the latest.

The tournament was originally supposed to take place in Munich at the beginning of November, but had to be postponed due to the positive corona tests at Alba Berlin.
