The White House published the farewell address of the 45th US President Donald Trump to the nation, during which the head of state summed up the work of his administration and wished Joe Biden's team success.

“This week we swear in a new administration and pray for its success in keeping America safe and prosperous.

We wish them all the best and also wish them the best - this is a very important word, ”Trump said.

“Now, while I am preparing for the transfer of power to the new administration at noon on Wednesday, I want you to know that the movement that we have launched is just beginning,” he stressed.

Over the past four years, his team has “accomplished more than anyone thought possible,” he said.

Trump said that, among other things, "the greatest economy in world history has been built," a series of historic peace agreements in the Middle East have been concluded, and the idea that in America "everyone matters" has been re-established.

“I am especially proud that I am the first president in decades who has not started new wars,” said the head of the White House.

He added that Washington imposed "historic colossal tariffs" on Beijing and then struck a "wonderful new agreement" with it: "We breathed new life into our alliances and, more than ever before, rallied the countries of the world to confront China."

In addition, Trump raised the topic of the events that took place in the US capital on January 6.

“All Americans were horrified by the attack on our Capitol.

Political violence is a blow to everything that is of value to us Americans.

This cannot be tolerated, ”he said, adding that his administration acted for the good of the whole country, not for the right or left.

First Lady Melania Trump also delivered a farewell message to the Americans.

She expressed her gratitude to the military and law enforcement officials for their work, and also thanked the doctors and health workers who continue to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

In addition, she called on Americans to renounce violence.

According to the White House press service, Donald and Melania Trump will not participate in Joe Biden's inauguration ceremony.

They will leave the residence at 08:00 local time (16:00 Moscow time) and travel to Palm Beach, Florida, while the inauguration of the 46th President of the United States is scheduled for 12:00 (20:00 Moscow time).

47% of Americans believe that Donald Trump will be remembered as one of the worst presidents in US history, according to a poll by the state radio station NPR, PBS NewsHour and the sociological firm Marist, with 16% of voters holding the opposite opinion.

At the same time, various reports appeared in the American media, citing sources about the latest actions of Donald Trump as President of the United States.

Allegedly, lawyers dissuaded the head of state from a possible early pardon of himself, his family, personal lawyer Rudolph Giuliani, as well as a number of Republican congressmen who took part in the rally on January 6 in Washington.

At the same time, the White House issued a press release stating that Trump pardoned 73 people, and also commuted the sentence for 70 more people.

Among those pardoned are former Trump adviser Stephen Bannon, accused of fraud and money laundering, and political consultant Paul Erickson, associated with the Maria Butina case.

"This pardon helps to correct the injustices of what turned out to be probably the largest witch-hunt in American history," said the statement regarding Erickson.

The media also reported that Trump intends to create a new political party in connection with criticism of his actions from some members of the GOP and even discussed this issue with his like-minded people.

According to insider information, this association can be called the “Party of Patriots”.

We will remind, on January 6, when the US Congress was to approve the results of the electoral college vote, Trump's supporters staged a rally in Washington against the approval of the victory of Democrat Joe Biden.

The current head of the White House has repeatedly invited his comrades-in-arms to this action, and on the day of its holding he made a speech in which he once again called the election results rigged.

The demonstration escalated into the storming of the Capitol, as a result of the clashes, five people were killed and more than 50 law enforcement officers were injured.

Biden called the participants in the storming of the Capitol "internal terrorists" and blamed Trump for what happened, accusing him of deliberately encouraging the unrest.

After that, the US House of Representatives voted to remove the president from power under the article "Incitement to mutiny."

However, Republican Majority Leader in the Upper House, Mitch McConnell, said the Senators would not issue an impeachment verdict until Biden's inauguration.
