Kronau (dpa / lsw) - A driver fled from the police on Autobahn 5 near Kronau (Karlsruhe district) and put several people at risk.
The escape ended in an accident in a parking lot, the police said on Tuesday.
Nobody got hurt.
Motorway police had wanted to check the 22-year-old driver on Tuesday afternoon.
The young man initially followed the patrol car, but apparently turned onto the hard shoulder shortly before the exit in order to get back onto the motorway.
He accelerated strongly and overtook several other cars from the left.
During the escape, the young man drove across the entire width of the highway and was at times traveling at up to 200 kilometers per hour.
The police followed the young man to a parking lot.
There the man's car crashed into a curb and finally into a tractor-trailer.
Among other things, he has to answer for hazards in traffic.
