[Global Times reporter Tao Xinran] Affected by the US ban, coupled with Taiwan's National Communications Commission (NCC)'s strict investigation of mainland manufacturing, Huawei has not launched a new mobile phone on the island for more than a year, and it is speculated that it may withdraw from the Taiwan market.

According to Taiwan’s “Wang Pao” report on the 18th, Huawei, which once ranked among the top three brands in Taiwan in recent years, was first hit by trade frictions between China and the United States. Not only did its Android phones fail to obtain Google Mobile Service (GMS) certification, they also could not get help from TSMC. Chips produced by OEMs; afterwards, Huawei's mobile phones were banned by the NCC because of the interface display "Taiwan of China". "Internal and external attacks have obviously hindered Huawei's development in Taiwan."

In 2020, Huawei announced the P40 Pro 5G flagship mobile phone, which was originally introduced to Taiwan in September last year, but temporarily stopped before the listing.

In other words, it has been more than a year since Huawei introduced the Mate 20 X 5G in November 2019, which is "equivalent to withdrawing from the Taiwan market."

At the same time, Taiwan media noticed that telecom operators no longer have Huawei counters, and some stores have not renewed their contracts due to the expiration of their contracts. The most important indicator is the Nanshan Breeze Brand Experience Hall, the largest in Taiwan, which opened in early 2019 The lights were quietly turned off because the lease expired this month and the lease was not renewed, "further triggering speculation about whether to withdraw from the Taiwan mobile phone market."

In this regard, Huawei’s general agent Xunwei Technology General Manager Yong Hai said that his attitude towards the Taiwan market has not changed, but he admitted that because the chip supply problem has not been resolved, the supply is relatively tight, and overseas sales are good, and there is no more quota allocated to Taiwan. In a short period of time, it is impossible to determine when the new mobile phone will be launched in Taiwan.

Yong Hai also said that although the new phone cannot be listed in Taiwan, Huawei still provides many new technological products such as notebook computers, smart watches, smart bracelets, and true wireless Bluetooth headsets, which will never be absent in the Taiwan market.
