January 19, 2021 Less than 24 hours and tomorrow the United States - with the swearing-in ceremony - will have the new president dem Joseph Biden.

Many excellent members of the Republican party have decided to side with the new president following the assault on Capitol Hill just under 15 days ago.

Donald Trump's outgoing Vice President Mike Pence has made it known that he will not go to the tycoon's farewell ceremony at Joint Base Andrews, a military base near Washington.

Pence has announced that he will participate in Biden's inauguration and, according to the same source, he will not be welcoming Trump just to be present at the inauguration of the new president.

And there also comes a statement from Republican Senate leader Mitch McConnell who said Donald Trump supporters who stormed the US Capitol were "instigated" by the outgoing president with "lies".

"The crowd has been told lies," the Kentucky senator said in a speech in the Senate chamber.

"They were incited by the president and other people in power," continued McConnell, adding that "they tried to stop the proclamation of Biden by Congress with fear and violence".

McConnell spoke six days after the Democrat-led House indicted Trump for inciting an uprising over the January 6 events.

A Senate trial is expected in the coming days to decide whether to condemn Trump and perhaps prevent him from holding federal office.

After years of supporting Trump with little criticism of him, influential McConnell said he hadn't decided whether to vote in favor of the sentence.

His decision could prove to be critical because in a Senate that will be split 50-50 between the two parties, the votes of 17 Republicans are enough, in addition to those of the Democrats, to reach the two-thirds margin necessary for the tycoon's condemnation.

The soldiers removed

Meanwhile, there are currently 12 soldiers of the National Guard engaged in Washington in the safety device of the Inauguration Day removed from service.

This was reported by the Office of the National Guard, according to US media reports.

Two soldiers were removed following inappropriate comments or text messages, another 10 due to questionable behavior found following the process of verifying their credentials.

In recent days, the FBI had announced a severe scrutiny of all the military and members of the law enforcement agencies working in Washington for the settlement of Joe Biden, to ensure that there is no sympathy or contiguity with extremist organizations.
