Covid-19 USA will request a negative test to all those who enter the country by plane
The outgoing US president, Donald Trump, lifted on Monday the ban on entry into the country applied since last year due to the
coronavirus pandemic
to travelers from the
European Union, the United Kingdom and Brazil
as of January 26, as announced in a presidential order.
The date, January 26, coincides with the entry into force of the requirement of a negative test for covid-19 for all international air passengers, including US citizens, bound for the US, recently announced by the
Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
.
The ban on passengers from the European Union and the United Kingdom was imposed in March, while the one on Brazil dates from May.
Trump will leave office this Wednesday, when he will be replaced by Democrat Joe Biden, so he could reimpose the restriction on entry into the US once he assumes the presidency.
However, in his decision today, Trump decided to keep the travel restriction in force for passengers from
China and Iran
for "having failed to cooperate with the US public health authorities and shared timely and accurate information on the virus extension ".
The United States is the country most affected by the pandemic in the world, with more than
24 million cases
of covid-19 and
almost 400,000 deaths
, according to an independent count from Johns Hopkins University.
