Munich (dpa / lby) - The German Youth Hostel Association (DJH) wants to close three houses in Bavaria.

The youth hostels in Lohr in Lower Franconia (Main-Spessart district), in Feuchtwangen in the Ansbach district in Central Franconia and the hostel in Kelheim in Lower Bavaria were affected, the DJH Regional Association of Bavaria announced on Tuesday.

So far it has not been possible to increase the occupancy rate and thus the economic viability of the hostels so that the facilities can be operated at cost-covering levels.

At the same time, there is a high need for investment in the three houses.

In addition, there are overcapacities in accommodation providers in the regions concerned.

The decision of the presidium of the DJH regional association will now be presented to the works council.

A final decision on the future of the three youth hostels will then be made by the Presidium at the end of February.
