Munich (dpa / lby) - The Bavarian Ministry of Health has started distributing 2.5 million FFP2 masks to those in need.

“We assume that those in need should have their masks by the beginning of next week at the latest,” announced Minister Klaus Holetschek (CDU) on Tuesday.

A million more masks for caregivers are to be issued from next Monday.

Since last Monday, it has been mandatory to wear more expensive FFP2 masks with higher protection when shopping and in public transport in Bavaria.

Recipients of basic security as well as the homeless and users of blackboards should each receive five FFP2 masks;

the district authorities have a free hand in the mode of distribution.

The main caregivers of those in need of care should be able to pick up three protective masks each from the respective city or local authority.
