Kiel (dpa / lno) - The German handball master THW Kiel has to do without his left winger Rune Dahmke after the World Cup break.

As the club announced, the 27-year-old was operated on on Tuesday after a tear in the medial meniscus on his right knee.

"The operation went well", THW team doctor Frank Pries was quoted on the club website.

"It can be assumed that Rune will be able to play for the THW Kiel again from March onwards if the healing process is normal."

The “Zebras” will play their first competitive game after the World Cup in Egypt on February 4th in the Champions League game against Motor Zaporozhye from the Ukraine.

On February 6th, SC DHfK Leipzig will be visiting Kiel in the Bundesliga.
