Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - The extension of distance teaching in schools until mid-February, agreed by the federal and state governments, will initially also apply in North Rhine-Westphalia.

This made NRW Prime Minister Armin Laschet (CDU) clear on Tuesday after the federal-state consultations.

Nevertheless, the further development of the corona infection situation is constantly monitored.

"If something else suddenly becomes possible, then we will make a new decision," said the new CDU federal chairman.

"It's not possible today."

He could not yet give a signal of opening - that was not the aim of the federal-state talks either.

But until February 14th it is still almost a month away.

You have to see how the corona numbers develop.

For the daycare centers in North Rhine-Westphalia, according to Laschet, the previous strategy applies that the daycare centers remain open in a “restricted pandemic operation”.
