"Ilmenau loose rock on the right" is the name of the groundwater body located under several layers of clay at a depth of 120 to 200 meters from which Coca-Cola pumps its water Vio, currently 350,000 cubic meters per year.

Now a third well is to be added - another 350,000 cubic meters are to be pumped there if it goes to Coca-Cola.

The company's calculation is simple: groundwater is cheap, mineral water is expensive.

And business with Vio is doing well.

Coca-Cola invested 100 million euros in the Lüneburg site and expanded the business.

Since Vio has been produced here, 190 people have been working at Coca-Cola in Lüneburg instead of the previous 65.

But who actually owns the groundwater, which is the basis of the business?
