Erfurt (dpa / th) - Thuringia's new electoral law, which should enable a state election even under the conditions of the corona pandemic, is facing major corrections.

The draft law that was presented by the red-red-green coalition last autumn would have to be changed in a number of points, said the internal politician of the CDU parliamentary group, Raymond Walk, on Tuesday in Erfurt.

Among other things, he mentioned the plan to open polling stations until 8 p.m. or, depending on the situation, to enable postal voting in individual constituencies.

"There are still many questions unanswered."

According to Walk, this was also shown by a hearing in the state parliament, at which the state returning officers and representatives of the municipal associations, among others, had their say. The domestic politicians of the left, Steffen Dittes, and the SPD, Dorothea Marx, also spoke of the need for correction. It already results from the fact that last week's state elections had been postponed from April 25 to the date of the federal elections on September 26. Dittes said that this would also mean harmonizing the rules by which voting takes place.
