Mainz (dpa / lrs) - Following the federal-state consultations on how to contain the corona pandemic, the Rhineland-Palatinate Prime Minister Malu Dreyer (SPD) will inform the public of the results today (probably from 6 p.m.).

She expects "that we have a constructive round in the Chancellery tomorrow," said Dreyer on Monday.

Following preliminary talks with the SPD country leaders, Dreyer named the next line of restrictions on public life, faster disbursement of economic aid for the companies affected, more work in the home office, the expansion of genetic tests with a view to virus mutations, as likely topics of the conference as well as the further vaccination strategy.

According to Dreyer, the SPD-led federal states can imagine extending the lockdown until February 14, if at the same time "economic aid comes faster". Both must be coupled with each other. It is not an easy decision "that the shutdown will be extended by two weeks," said Dreyer. The number of new corona infections has recently decreased. "But it is also clear that we are still a long way from what we want to achieve."
