Suhl (dpa / th) - As a measure to combat the corona pandemic, companies in southern Thuringia are to have direct access to rapid tests.

The Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) and Chamber of Crafts (HWK) South Thuringia agreed with the Schmalkalden-Meiningen District Office, as announced on Tuesday.

In the event of suspicion, this is intended to identify infected people at an early stage and interrupt chains of infection in good time, it said.

"We help our South Thuringian companies to establish a more intensive Corona prevention culture in their everyday work and to react correctly in the event of suspicion," explained General Manager Manuela Glühmann (HWK) and General Manager Ralf Pieterwas (IHK).

In view of the rapidly growing number of cases, both employers and employees must ensure that occupational health and safety standards are complied with.

This is the only way to slow down the infection process and avert a lockdown of the overall economy.

According to the information, additional test capacities are to be created for companies in the future.

Local pharmacies are supporting the project: In future, they are to issue rapid tests directly to companies and conduct brief training courses on how to use them.
