Schwäbisch Gmünd / Ellwangen (dpa / lsw) - After the death of a kindergarten child in the Rems in Schwäbisch Gmünd, the investigations against three teachers have been stopped.

No criminal behavior could be determined, said a spokesman for the Ellwangen public prosecutor's office on Tuesday.

According to the investigators' judgment, the three-year-old's death was unpredictable and unavoidable for the three teachers.

The little boy had left his kindergarten group on a playground in January 2020 and ran unnoticed towards the banks of the Rems. A short time later, the carers found his lifeless body in the water. The three year old died in the hospital. According to an autopsy, the child suffered cold shock and cardiac arrest. Investigations should clarify, among other things, to what extent the caregivers are responsible for the death of the boy. The Südwestrundfunk reported about it first.
