Duisburg (dpa / lnw) - After a fire in an apartment building in Duisburg, a 41-year-old man was found dead in the ground floor apartment on Monday evening.

The cause of the fire and the details of the death were initially unclear, the police are investigating.

The house is currently uninhabitable due to the heavy smoke development, said spokesmen for the fire brigade and police.

The tenants were found elsewhere.

At around 10:05 p.m., witnesses had triggered an alarm.

The fire brigade was only able to rescue the man dead from the apartment on the ground floor.

The Rheinische Post also reported on the fire.
