• 'Think tank'.Vox creates Disenso, a new foundation to contribute ideas to the party inspired by Faes

  • The employers Vox signs a former UCD minister for 'his FAES'

Vox has signed Juan Carlos Girauta to participate this Tuesday in an event organized by the

Fundación Disenso

, the

think tank

linked to training.

This is the first time that the former leader of Ciudadanos collaborates in an event related to the Santiago Abascal party.

The event is a debate on "the future of freedom of expression" in which the Fundación Disenso wants to address in a concrete way the "threat" of "censorship" by large technology corporations such as Facebook, Twitter, Google or YouTube after the closing of the accounts of the outgoing US president, Donald Trump.

This first collaboration of Girauta with Vox comes after the former spokesman for Ciudadanos in Congress has increasingly aligned himself in public with those of Abascal on certain policies.

In particular, with regard to the harsh criticism of the management of the PSOE Government and United We Can, as well as the belligerent style adopted by Vox against Pedro Sánchez.

This tuning has occurred at the time that he was farthest from the course of his party.

Despite this growing affinity, Girauta has not joined the ranks of Vox or Disenso.

Nor will it be part of the electoral lists in Catalonia, not even in a symbolic position, according to Vox sources ruled out to this newspaper.

Timermans involvement

The other surprise of the act of the founding of Vox is the participation of

Alfredo Timermans

, who was a high position of José María Aznar in his eight years of government.

He held different responsibilities, among which the position of deputy director of the cabinet of the presidency of the Government and that of secretary of State for Communication stands out.

Timermans was also appointed CEO of

FAES

, the foundation led by the former Prime Minister, in 1993.

The debate, which will take place this Tuesday at 7:00 p.m., will also include the participation of the Vox MEP and patron of Dissense

Hermann Tertsch

and the

senior

researcher

of The Heritage Foundation

Mike González

.

The discussion table, moderated by the Head of Studies of the Fundación Disenso,

Eduardo Fernández Luiña

, will focus on freedom of expression and social networks in line with what Vox considers the existence of a "systematic censorship" of the large technology on account of the precedent created by the closure of Trump profiles or by the obstacles placed on the Parler social network, where many of Trump's followers have taken refuge, to function.

"Attack on freedom of expression"

Vox has been warning of this matter for a week.

Its president, Santiago Abascal, announced the opening of a round of contacts with "different international political leaders" to denounce the "attack on freedom of expression" promoted from social media platforms.

"They cannot become global policemen of thought," he said, because "we are going headlong into global totalitarianism led by a handful of privileged oligarchs and billionaires."
