Complicated rescue operations

The bulk carrier Arvin flew the flag of Palau, a small archipelago in the Pacific.

According to Sinan Güner, the governor of Bartin province located in the north of Turkey, this ship linked Georgia to Bulgaria with 13 people among the crew.

Also according to Sinan Güner, the freighter was wrecked due to bad weather conditions.

These have also complicated rescue operations.

Wind gusts and snow showers

Strong gusts of wind and flurries occurred in the area where the boat sank on Sunday.

This will reduce visibility and make it more difficult to maneuver the boats.

In

January 2019, six sailors were killed in the sinking of a boat flying the Panamanian flag in the Black Sea off Turkey.

Two years earlier, a Russian spy ship had sunk in the same area, but all crew members had survived.
