Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - A suspected terrorist of the Tamil terror group LTTE will have to answer for murder in Düsseldorf from this Wednesday.
As a 15-year-old in Sri Lanka, the man is said to have detonated a bomb remotely in front of a convoy of the Sri Lankan army, as accused by the Düsseldorf Public Prosecutor's Office in their indictment.
The trial takes place in the high-security wing of the Higher Regional Court.
A good twelve years ago, six people were killed and many more injured in the attack.
The accused now faces the maximum youth sentence of ten years in prison.
The Tamil "Liberation Tigers" LTTE are fighting for a state of the Tamil minority in Sri Lanka.
The allegations are largely based on the defendant's own statements, who incriminated himself in his asylum application in 2018.
In the criminal proceedings, he has so far not commented on the allegations.
The court has earmarked eight days for the case.
