Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - The 15-kilometer rule for the previously four affected districts of Höxter, Minden-Lübbecke, Recklinghausen and Oberbergischer Kreis will be withdrawn from Tuesday due to the significantly lower number of corona infections there.

The NRW Ministry of Health announced on Monday in Düsseldorf that the restrictions on personal freedom of movement would be lifted from January 19 through a change in the Coronaregionalverordnung.

"The background is the number of infections in these circles, which has been falling for several days," said the ministry.

The 15-kilometer rule for extreme corona hotspots has also been in effect in North Rhine-Westphalia since last Tuesday. The state government issued a regional ordinance stipulating how and in which circles people's range of motion is restricted.
