On Sunday, Alexei Navalny landed in Russia for the first time since he was poisoned with the nerve agent novitjok in August last year.

He is now being held in custody pending a police interrogation.

Many wonder why he returned to Russia, but according to SVT's foreign reporter, it is important for Navalny to be a Russian politician in Russia.

- For Navalny, it is extremely important to be in Russia.

He is constantly accused by authorities of having contact with foreign intelligence services.

The longer he is outside Russia, the more he will be bombarded by this, says Carl Fridh Kleberg in SVT's Morgonstudion.

He describes Alexei Navalny as the opposition's brightest star.

- He is a charismatic person and many of his followers idolize him.

He is the sharpest horn on Putin's side politically.
