Ivenack / Neubrandenburg (dpa / mv) - A series of attacks on cigarette machines occupies the police in the Mecklenburg Lake District.

As a police spokesman announced on Monday, there were two new cases over the weekend.

A total of nine incidents were counted.

Most recently, on Sunday in Ivenack, a cigarette machine was cut open with a power cutter and looted, and another machine was blown up on Saturday in Neubrandenburg.

In almost all cases, attackers stole money and cigarettes, and some machines were completely stolen.

The total damage is estimated at tens of thousands of euros.

It was initially not known whether the cases were related.

Other crime scenes were Gravelotte and Borrentin near Demmin, Brunn, Burow, Grapzow and Sponholz.
