Mainz (dpa / lrs) - The Rhineland-Palatinate Health Minister Sabine Bätzing-Lichtenthäler (SPD) has requested binding information from the federal government about the extent of the reduced deliveries of the corona vaccine from Biontech and Pfizer.
"It cannot be that the countries still do not have precise figures on the magnitude of the reduced vaccine deliveries in the next few weeks after initial information last Friday," she said.
This makes it difficult to plan ahead.
The state government was informed on Friday "at very short notice" by the federal government that promised vaccine deliveries for the next three to four weeks would not be fully met, the minister said.
The state has geared its planning to the delivery dates promised by the federal government and companies by mid-February.
On this basis, the dates for vaccinations, especially in the vaccination centers, were assigned until mid-February.
At the same time, Bätzing-Lichtenthäler made it clear that all citizens in the state who had already had a first vaccination could also receive their second vaccination with the Biontech vaccine at the vaccination date already allocated to them.
All promised and agreed second vaccinations could be administered despite the lower federal deliveries.

The Mainz vaccine manufacturer Biontech and its US partner Pfizer announced on Friday that the delivery quantities will be temporarily reduced this week (from January 18).
From next week (January 25th) they want to go back to the original schedule.
From February 15, deliveries are to be increased beyond the initially planned quantities.
In the first quarter the "full promised amount of vaccine doses" and in the second quarter even "significantly more" will be delivered, the companies said.
The reason they cited was adjustments to the production process at the Pfizer plant in Puurs, Belgium, in order to be able to expand capacities there.
