Hanover (dpa / lni) - Before the federal-state meeting on the course in the corona crisis, the state government of Lower Saxony spoke out in favor of extending the lockdown until mid-February.

The state does not believe in a further tightened complete lockdown, said State Secretary Jörg Mielke on Monday in Hanover in a special meeting of the social committee.

"We will not propose tightening the contact restrictions."

As Mielke said, otherwise there was a risk of acceptance problems.

"We realize we are about to tighten the screws too tight."

Even a night curfew did not find any support from Lower Saxony.

The federal and state governments will discuss on Tuesday whether the current lockdown, which will apply until the end of January, needs to be extended or tightened. The meeting originally planned for January 25th was brought forward because of the continued tense corona situation and concerns about virus mutations.
