The Contentious-Administrative Court No. 30 of Madrid has cautiously suspended the withdrawal of the streets dedicated to the former socialist leaders Francisco Largo Caballero and Indalecio Prieto in the capital.

Thus, it leaves without effect the agreement of the Plenary of Cibeles of September 2020 approved with the favorable votes of PP, Citizens and Vox at the request of this last municipal group, which, in its proposal, defined the trajectory of both politicians as "bloody" and "sinister".

While waiting to enter into the merits of the matter, the Justice hears the appeal raised by the UGT, so during the judicial process the nomenclature of both public roads will be maintained, as the union has reported in a statement.

In addition to the elimination of the names of the roads, the removal of the plaque dedicated to Largo Caballero in the Plaza de Chamberí and the statues erected to both in Nuevos Ministerios remains without effect.

The order indicates that, for the "preservation of the general interest", it is advisable to "keep things in the situation in which they are at the present time, avoiding inconvenience and damages of different order to all citizens affected by the change of name of the streets affected until the issuance of the resolution that puts an end to the contentious-administrative appeal filed ".

It also points out that, "in addition to preventing the production of a real and difficult-to-reach impairment for a large number of those affected by the change in the nomenclature of the streets involved, it would contribute to avoiding the deterioration of the municipal political credibility by the citizens who inevitably it would have to take place by the swaying of the names of those streets, in the event that their respective plates were removed and finally the final resolution that is dictated in the present appeal was favorable to the interests of the plaintiff.
