Halle (dpa / sa) - The city of Halle began on Monday to vaccinate people over 90 years of age against the corona virus.

The seniors should have registered for the vaccination beforehand, said Halle's mayor Bernd Wiegand (non-party) on Monday.

800 people willing to vaccinate have so far reported on the offer.

As a spokesman for the city announced, around 2,600 people who are older than 90 live in Halle.

The next vaccination appointments are planned for January 20 and 27.

Wiegand also warned on Monday of “scammers who pretend to be doctors and inform about alleged side effects of the corona vaccination”. A family doctor would have reported such a case to the city administration. Wiegand explained that an over-90-year-old did not have a vaccination due to incorrect information. He was misled. According to Wiegand, he could not say where the alleged fraudsters would get people's contact details.
