Neubrandenburg (dpa / mv) - For the residents of the Mecklenburg Lake District, the strict rules of a high-risk area continue to apply despite the significantly lower corona infections.

As a district spokeswoman announced on Monday, the seven-day value - i.e. the number of new corona infections per 100,000 inhabitants and week - must remain below 200 for 14 days.

Only then could it be decided to relax.

According to the district, the current ruling on the tightened corona restrictions applies until January 31.

The lake district, the largest district in Germany with around 5500 square kilometers, became the first MV high-risk district at the beginning of January.

The incidence rose to 261.6 on January 10 and fell below 200 for the first time on Sunday at 194.1.

There is therefore a curfew from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., the 15-kilometer restriction around the place of residence with certain exceptions and a tourist entry ban.

On Sunday, the value rose to 200.3 for the first time in the neighboring district of Vorpommern-Greifswald, among other things because of an outbreak with more than 60 cases in a retirement home in Ueckermünde.

The head of the district in Greifswald is now examining stricter regulations.

In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania the seven-day incidence was most recently 118.7 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants.

A week ago it was 134.5.
