Wiesbaden (dpa / lhe) - In Hesse, there are no known resolutions of sports clubs due to the corona pandemic.

Interior Minister Peter Beuth (CDU) said in response to a small request from the AfD parliamentary group in Wiesbaden that the electronic inventory of the membership development of the state sports association had to be awaited for a final assessment.

Reliable figures on the clubs and their members can be expected from the end of the first quarter.

All around 7,600 Hessian sports clubs in Hessen are obliged to report their membership numbers to the umbrella organization.

So far, around 2.1 million club members were registered in the country.

Beuth and Landessportbund President Rolf Müller had called for solidarity with the local sports clubs in December.

As part of the state's Corona association aid, according to the Interior Minister, 540 Hessian sports clubs had submitted an application for immediate aid by the end of November.

Of these, 279 applications with a total volume of around 1.3 million euros were approved.

110 applications from the clubs were therefore rejected.

Most of the applications were submitted by football teams or clubs that, in addition to other sports such as gymnastics, mainly play football.
