  • Government, center-right: "Enough tactics, Conte comes to the courtroom"

January 18, 2021 "The center-right reaffirmed its compactness in view of the communications of the Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte and the vote in the Chamber of Deputies. The political forces present a unitary resolution which underlines the absolute inadequacy of the government in addressing both the health effects and the economic effects of the pandemic ".

This is what is stated in a joint note released by the coalition.

The resolution presented to the Chamber commits the government "to resign".

The text is signed by Riccardo Molinari (Lega), Mariastella Gelmini (Fi), Francesco Lollobrigida (Fdi), Maurizio Lupi (Nci), Giorgio Silli (Cambiamo).

The resolution reads: "Considering the declarations insufficient to guarantee a stable government and, above all, compact in the decisions that affect the leadership of the country; also considering that any numbers in parliament would lead to 'collectible' majorities, which would configure an executive weakened that does not reflect the popular will; commits the government: to resign ".

During the summit "it was reiterated that a government with a narrow or non-existent majority is not what Italy needs to face the difficult challenges of the coming months".

Tonight a new meeting between the center-right leaders to take stock of the premier's speech tomorrow in the Senate.

Salvini: "Conte has confidence in parliamentarians and Italians? Well, best wishes"

"Conte says he has faith in parliamentarians and Italians? Well, best wishes".

Matteo Salvini cuts short with Adnkronos, leaving the Chamber, thus commenting on the words of Prime Minister Conte, pronounced upon entering Montecitorio for his communications.

"I don't care sincerely" the Northern League secretary Matteo Salvini then replies to those who asked him for an opinion on the proposal, advanced yesterday by Matteo Renzi, to work together, majority and opposition, on institutional reforms and for the formation of a commission of inquiry on pandemic management.

If Conte does not have the numbers, two ways: either the elections, as happens in many European countries, or, if the President of the Republic considered it, the Center-right has compactness, projects and unity of vision to do a few things quickly and bring out the Country from the pandemic.

Meloni: "Government was weak, now it could be even worse"

"The old majority was weak and reclusive, the new one could be even worse: founded on parliamentary blackmail by Conte's mercenaries and bankruptcy in the face of national health and economic emergencies. The solution? Return to the vote and govern with a strong, cohesive and European center-right. Because the true pro-Europeans are we who defend the rights of peoples in an era of frightening oligarchic regression and digital censorship " .

Giorgia Meloni tells Libero.

"Even changing the order of the addenda in the current majority, there will never be a cohesive and numerically strong block. There are courageous choices to be made: where and how do we allocate the money from the Recovery Fund? The Giallorossi have spent € 150 billion in 10 months without appreciable results, and now someone should explain to me how they will do with only 44 billion in two years, which is the non-repayable money, the real ones. I repeat: the only way is the early vote with a new majority that has numbers, vision and courage to govern for 5 years ", explains Meloni.

"The Italians will send me to the government, not the palace messengers. On this point the coalition seems compact to me. It is the same compactness with which we will choose the candidates for the administrative offices, on which any evaluation is still open", emphasizes the leader of FdI.

Tajani: "

The solution is a center-right

government"

"The solution for us is a center-right government, the numbers can be found in parliament not with the displaced but with those who consider it essential to tackle the health and economic crisis".

Thus Antonio Tajani, vice president of Forza Italia.

Faced with the hypothesis that the leadership of this government could be Matteo Salvini replies "it will be up to the President of the Republic to identify a name, we at Forza Italia can guarantee credibility and reliability even at an international level".

"There are some parliamentarians from the 5-star Movement and the Mixed Group who have expressed impatience with the majority, there is a lot of discontent" he added.
