Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - In the collective bargaining conflict in the security and security industry in North Rhine-Westphalia, the arbitration should now bring a solution.

After the unsuccessful third round of negotiations on Monday, the Federal Association of the Security Industry (BDSW) and the Verdi union agreed to involve the state arbitrator Yvonne Sachtje.

Verdi had also rejected the employer's modified offer as too low.

The BDSW wants to increase wages by 1.9 percent by March 1, 2021 and again by 2.6 percent by January 1, 2022. So far, employers have had an increase of 1.6 percent on January 1, 2021 and 2.6 percent Percent offered on January 1, 2022.

That is not an improved offer, criticized the union.

According to the BDSW, the collective agreement applies to around 53,000 employees in North Rhine-Westphalia, such as porters and security guards at companies and retailers.

The security personnel at airports are not affected, a different contract applies to these employees.

The state arbitration is a north Rhine-Westphalian peculiarity.

It is based at the NRW Ministry of Labor.

As a neutral moderator, she becomes active when the social partners jointly request this.

The arbitration proposal is not binding, however, it must be accepted by the collective bargaining committees on both sides.
