A new strain of "Corona" virus was discovered in Germany

The hospital in which the new strain was discovered in Bavaria.

The German newspaper, Merkur, confirmed the discovery of a new strain of the emerging corona virus, during the past week in a Bavarian hospital.

The hospital director, Franz Niederbol, said that the specialists discovered the new strain, which is a mutation in the virus, while testing samples from some patients, with a new analysis device recently obtained by the Foundation.

After discovering this mutation in the virus, hospital doctors contacted their colleagues from Charité Hospital, who confirmed that there might be a new type of SARS-CoV-2 virus.

The newspaper quoted Franz Niederbol, confirming that the source of this mutation is still mysterious, as well as the extent of infection of the new type of virus.

He indicated that 12,000 mutations in the Coronavirus have been discovered since the beginning of the epidemic, and that, until now, there is no reason to believe that the newly identified strain is more dangerous than other strains, so there is no reason for panic.

The doctors emphasized that they could not, at the present time, provide accurate information about the characteristics of this mutation, which needs additional study.

Details may appear at the end of January.

Franz Niederbol said: "Since the beginning of the epidemic, more than 12,000 changes have been discovered in the structure of the virus, in various parts of the world."
