The administrative court of Rennes ordered the hospital of Redon (Ille-et-Vilaine) to pay 27,000 euros to a couple whose child was born disabled in 2014. The girl had died at the age of two, reports

Ouest -France

.

The drama took place in August 2014. The future mother, who was to give birth vaginally, had seen the doctors recommend a cesarean.

On the scheduled day of delivery, the latter had felt violent abdominal pain that could suggest a uterine rupture.

An emergency cesarean is then requested but the operation must be delayed because the only operating room in the maternity hospital is already occupied.

The mother will be installed there 35 minutes later and will give birth to a child "with a very low vitality score", specifies

Ouest-France.

Conviction for lack of information

The hospital was not found guilty for these facts, even if the twenty-minute deadline recommended in the event of uterine rupture was not respected.

The justice, however, condemned the health establishment for lack of information.

The court considers that the doctors did not sufficiently communicate the risks of a uterine rupture to the parents.

The hospital will also owe around 15,000 euros to the Finistère CPAM, which reimbursed the child's care.
