China News Service, January 18, according to foreign media reports, due to the slowdown of the new crown vaccine shipments by the US pharmaceutical company Pfizer, the number of Pfizer vaccines received by many EU countries is far lower than expected.

In response to this, six European Union countries recently stated that this situation is "unacceptable" and warned that it "reduces the credibility of the vaccination plan."

According to reports, in a statement on the 15th local time, Pfizer stated that vaccine shipments were affected because the company adjusted its production process to increase vaccine production.

Pfizer said that although this will temporarily affect shipments from the end of January to early February, it will greatly increase the supply of vaccines at the end of February and March.

In response, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia urged the European Union to put pressure on Pfizer.

The German Ministry of Health said that Pfizer’s statement was surprising and regrettable, and pointed out that Pfizer had promised to set the delivery date to mid-February.

European Commission President Von der Lein said that Pfizer’s CEO has assured her that all orders for the first quarter of 2021 will arrive.

The report pointed out that the EU is not entirely dependent on Pfizer's new crown vaccine, and has approved the use of the new crown vaccine developed by Modena in the United States.

However, Pfizer's slowing down of vaccine shipments will still slow the progress of the EU's new crown vaccination plan.
