Hellenthal (dpa / lnw) - During heavy snowfall, a 22-year-old car driver skidded and rolled over in Hellenthal (Euskirchen district).

The young woman was seriously injured in the accident on Saturday evening, the police said on Sunday.

According to initial findings, she had driven too fast and had lost control in a curve on the snow-covered, icy road.

She was able to free herself from the car and was taken to the hospital, the police said.

In the Düren district, too, a young woman driver overturned her vehicle on a slippery road.

According to the police, the 20-year-old was driving from Niederzier-Oberzier to Düren on Sunday night when her car came off the lane.

After about ten meters, the car finally broke down on the roof.

The woman was therefore traveling too fast "despite a recognizable risk of slipping".

She was slightly injured in the accident.

The police estimated the damage to property at several thousand euros.
