Corona, the great equalizer.

Almost a year ago, this was the opinion of some scattered people who wanted to make out at least one positive side effect of the virus: A natural event, it was said, was dangerous for everyone and did not stop at money.

This assumption has aged badly.

After just a few months, it became clear that Corona accentuates differences even more.

In the garden, it is easier to keep your distance from other people and dark thoughts than in the one-room tenement apartment.

After his infection, Donald Trump had access to the concentrated load of modern medicine to fight the pathogen away.

Others cannot be sure that there is still a ventilator available for them.

Corona is a natural event, yes.

But one that doesn't care about justice.

Even the struggle against it cannot revolve around justice.

The priority of the state, at least this state, to save as many lives as possible, tries anyway.

Not to consider the very old, who will die in the next few years even without a virus, as less valuable than everyone else - that is the minimum level of justice that these people can demand from their state.

Anyone who demands more justice in the pandemic should change their perspective and ask themselves: Would it be fair to let more old people die so that others have to give up fewer freedoms?

Or: Would it be fair to close more shops because clubs aren't allowed to be open either?

Poking around in the dark

Instead of justice, it should be about meaningfulness.

The measures against Corona and its consequences are partly questionable, sometimes legally sensitive, often little more than poking around in the dark.

Many of them do not grip as intended.

That can and must be criticized.

But it doesn't mean "unjust".

It is unfair that you need the hammer now because nobody bought tweezers before.

But it's not the fault of the hammer - it's the priorities before Corona.

Students would now learn more from home if their schools had been upgraded years ago.

Fewer people would die if provision had been made for a pandemic that even Netflix knew would hit us sooner or later.

The money, that can be seen in the “boom” with which the “Bazooka” is ammunitioned during the crisis, would have been there.

The measures against Corona apply to everyone - at the sea and in the mountains, in the Platte and in the penthouse.

This message, at least, is clear: bring the numbers down, otherwise the store will be shut down.

That's bad, but fair.

Because it is up to you how well you can live in this crisis.

The author considers it unjust that the government is still communicating its corona policy in a completely non-transparent manner even after a year.

Such is the current corona situation in Europe

A tightened lockdown is still being discussed in Germany, but this is already a reality in other countries in Europe.

However, one country is also loosening its measures again.

No, says Tim Röhn

So now mutations of Covid-19, much more is not yet known.

And what's the answer?

More of the same, although the success so far has been poorly manageable: After the lockdown light and the lockdown hard, the mega lockdown could now come.

And now this idea is even being debated: #zerocovid, lockdown until the virus is eradicated.

Sounds strange at first, but that was also recently thought about a reality in which citizens are only allowed to move 15 kilometers from their place of residence.

In any case, on Tuesday they want to go a step further - which will further increase the suffering of many people and the injustice.

While victims of Covid-19 disease are relatively often in the light of public attention, entrepreneurs fear for their livelihood, the number of people suffering from depression is rising, domestic violence is increasing, schoolchildren are being denied the right to attend school and people are afraid of one Corona infection no longer to the doctor.

People die because of it.

In addition, the social classes are affected by the measures to different degrees.

As a survey by the Hans Böckler Foundation showed, almost 48 percent of those questioned with an income of no more than 900 euros net per month suffered financial losses.

With an income of more than 4500 euros net, it was only 27 percent.

People with a migration background were affected by six percent more than those without, parents by seven percent more often than childless and employees in temporary work or in mini-jobs by eleven percent more often than permanent employees.

It remains to be seen whether the economic, human and social damage justifies or perhaps exceeds the benefits of the lockdown.

Yes, in the fight against Covid-19, a collective effort is essential.

But the further we drive the lockdown spiral, the more unavoidable the elephant stands in the room: the question of whether we are still on the right track.

In view of the comparison with less restrictive states, the loss of freedom has so far apparently not led to a gain in human life.

Death in nursing homes has increased even further.

Is it really wise to put a concrete slab on everything that moves, instead of consistently (!) Protecting the most threatened life?

Even the World Health Organization warns of the lockdown consequences and calls for it to be imposed as a last resort at most.

It is clear that there is no such thing as a pandemic without injustices.

The politically responsible are not to be envied.

But they should try everything to ensure that they can still defend their decisions tomorrow.

Tim Röhn trusted the government for a long time, but now has strong doubts about its pandemic management.

High numbers of infections and fewer vaccines - is the mega-lockdown coming?

The current infection numbers are still far too high, and on top of that, the pharmaceutical company Pfizer has now reduced the next vaccine deliveries.

At the early Corona summit, the federal and state governments are now supposedly talking about a mega lockdown.
