Ottawa (AP) - Tim Stützle turned 19 on Friday and made his debut in the world's best ice hockey league.

The next day he scored the first goal for the Ottawa Senators - and what a hit.

He drops the puck coming out of the air briefly on the ice and then slams it into the short corner without humor.

Then the striker, who was trained in Adler Mannheim's youth, answered questions from the German press agency.

How did the past few days feel with the first practice session, the first game and now the first goal in Ottawa?

Tim Stützle: It all felt very, very good.

It was a lot of fun.

I don't think that being received so well is a given.

Sure, it was tough in the beginning with the quarantine we had to do, but I think we made the best of it.

I think you can see that we are a team that works very, very hard together and gives everything for everyone.

That's why it's a lot of fun to play here.

What is the significance of this first goal?

Stützle: It is very important, of course.

There is always a burden off your shoulders.

But in the end I wanted to get out today with a win and unfortunately that didn't work out.

On the whole, we did it well and played together very well as a team.

We can take out things that we still have to work on.

But I think that's completely normal, it's the second game of the season and we didn't have much time to prepare.

How big is the difference playing in the NHL compared to any other player experience so far?

Stützle: It's a very, very big difference.

It all goes much faster.

Even with the small ice surface.

It always takes me a few minutes to get used to it.

But I think it worked out better today than in the first game and I think it will get better from game to game.

It's just fun to work with the guys out there.

They are all great guys and you can learn a lot from them.

ABOUT THE PERSON: Tim Stützle, who comes from Viersen, played for Adler Mannheim in the DEL before moving to Canada.

In the draft of the NHL, the Ottawa Senators decided in third place for him.

Only Leon Draisaitl was selected from Germany so early.
