Ecuador’s Interior Minister Patricio Pazmino reported the seizure on Saturday on an instant messaging service on Twitter.

According to Pazmino, the seizure is thanks to a drug dog named Garo, who smelled a cargo of drugs hidden in a cargo container.

The Minister of the Interior says that the cargo container was on its way from the port of Guayaquil to Estonia.

Further investigations into the case are ongoing.

According to news agency AFP, Ecuadorian police seized a record 128 tons of drugs in 2020. The number of seizures broke the previous record for 2016 by about 18 tons.
