Alexis Pinturault carried out a superb operation in the general classification of the Alpine Skiing World Cup by taking 3rd place in the second World Cup slalom in Flachau (Austria), won on Sunday by the Norwegian Sebastian Foss-Solevaag.

This is the 29-year-old Norwegian's first World Cup victory and the first podium in the discipline for almost a year for the Frenchman and his 2nd place in Schladming on January 28, 2020.

In the aftermath of the serious injury in training of the title holder of the big globe Aleksander Aamodt Kilde (rupture of the cruciate ligament of the right knee), the Frenchman thus further increased his overall lead over his closest challenger, the Swiss Marco Odermatt, which now points to 277 points.

The Norwegian Sebastian Foss-Solevaag, author of the fastest time of the first round, confirmed in the second to win with 76 hundredths ahead of the Austrian Marco Schwarz and 95 over Pinturault.

On the French side, the disappointment came from Clément Noël, who did not finish the first round.

The day after his first podium of the winter (2nd), he made a fatal fault midway through which sent him to the ground.

Victor Muffat-Jeandet and Jean-Baptiste Grange finished 18th and 19th respectively, more than two seconds behind the winner.
