Many people are impressed by the story of high school students that have not been confirmed for 16 hours despite the results of the university entrance exam.

On the 13th local time, foreign media such as ABC in the United States introduced the special reason why Skyler Hughes, 17, who lives in Georgia, did not open an email from the prestigious Duke University in the United States right away.

Since childhood, Skyler has aimed to attend Duke University, one of the best universities in the southern United States.

This is because it was a university that boasted excellent faculty and curriculum in the field of'marine biology' that interests me the most.

His mother, Rasheda, was behind Skyler's dream of becoming a marine biologist.

Rasheda, who has been supporting her unique daughter for her whole life, fell into a coma after being diagnosed with a cerebral aneurysm in 2015. After that, she couldn't wake up for a year before she died.

After his mother's death, Skyler decided to study marine biology to help develop new drugs and treatments for patients like his mother.

After the loss of her mother, Skyler, who worked harder on her studies, finally received an email last month stating whether she passed Duke University.

But Skyler struggled to ask questions and didn't check the email.

This is because I wanted to be with my deceased mother for a moment that might be memorable in my life.

His father, James, who was just as curious about the results as Skyler, persuaded him several times to "just open the email", but Skyler didn't turn away.

Eventually the next day, Skyler and his father headed to the mother's cemetery.

Skyler, who opened the e-mail with nervousness, cried at the news on the screen and said to the grave, "Mom, I've passed."

James also stole tears, saying, "You said I was going to pass."

Duke University also responded to the news that Skyler released on social media.

The university posted a video of Skyler confirming the acceptance results at his mother's cemetery and introduced him as "our freshman who waited for 16 hours and received the acceptance result."

"I could have given up everything after I lost my mother," Skyler said. "But I'm proud that I didn't give up. I'm grateful to my mother and father for always making me do my best."
