The anchor in the Canadian "CBC News" (Ginella Massa) said that her journey as the first veiled broadcaster in Canada was not easy, after she faced many difficulties.

Massa added that Canada has laws against discrimination on the basis of religion, color or race, and those laws have helped her in this path, and she indicated that the responses of officials in the network were positive towards it.

But she said that the scene was not without some negative reactions about her appearing on the screen in the veil, especially on social media platforms, and she described these criticisms as being subjective.

Massa was born in Panama and moved at the age of one year with her mother to Toronto, Canada, and converted to Islam there with her mother.

In an interview with Al-Jazeera, Massa said that she had to overcome several psychological barriers, being from Panama of African descent and a Muslim woman and veiled, and this required double the effort and excellence in her work.

She also had to convince the channel managers that her appearance on the screen would be good for them, and said that her mother strongly supported her in the field of journalism and media.
